Darren Gardner is a singer songwriter from South Africa. A classically trained singer with Rnb, Soul and Pop roots, born in Port Elizabeth South Africa, he spent most of his childhood listening to his mothers record collection which consisted of TLC, Toni Braxton, Lauryn Hill and Celine Dion (to name just a few).
Darren moved to Namibia at age 2 and first started singing at the age of 6 while helping his mother in the kitchen. He then proceeded to join the school choir at age 9 never taking any lead singing rolls.
During his high school years he joined an acapella all boys group called Indomitus where he further developed his vocal abilities and went on to sing lead rolls.
Darren later moved to Pretoria, where he went on to study Classical vocals at the University of Pretoria with a focus on Music Production and sound Engineering but it wasn’t long before he was gripped by the Harmonious Clutches of Jazz music.
Not too long after commencing his Tertiary education in music, he met a young woman by the name of Elsa Luttikhuizen and the two fell deeply in love. They pursued a long distance relationship for over 2 years before Darren decided to follow his heart to the Netherlands in 2016, where the lovely couple now live.
Darren met producer, multi-instrumentalist and song-writer Stanley Clementina during a performance at the Music Matters Competition back in 2016 and the two have been working together ever since. He released his first single, “Stutter” early in 2018 and under the management of Stanley, Darren has worked with the likes of ZO Gospel Choir, Berget Lewis, Martin Garrix, Mike Yung and Grammy award winning producer Chris Henderson (to name a few).
Darren is currently working on his first EP, due to be released later in 2019.
